Before and After: Master Bathroom

I've showed you a few pics of the finished bathroom.  But, I've never showed the before.  Get ready for a lot of pictures!  I've also got new pics of the new bathroom tweaked!!

It always seemed so dark to me.  And, do you see that dark spot right at the bottom of the tub?  Yep, that's mildew!!  Yuck!!!  That's what we get for putting carpet in the bathroom I guess.  Lesson learned.

Way too much clutter going on.  I've really tried hard to declutter the house lately.  It makes me feel jumpy.  Believe me, I need to feel calm!  That's my husband saying "Hurry up!  We need to rip that carpet up!"

I've always loved my shower curtain.  My sweet friend Amy got it for me for a house warming gift.  It hid all the shower clutter and if the glass door needed a good scrubbing you couldn't see it!  But, it was time to go.

My Target rug was pretty.  It constantly slipped on that carpet.  It drove me crazy!!

******************************************************

Here is the new and improved bathroom! Here's the lowdown again.

Laid tile floor
Painted walls
Painted trim

I've tweaked it since I last showed it to you.

So much brighter and cleaner looking!  You can read about the flooring here.. That is tile that looks just like wood!!!  Awesome!!!!

I feel as though I can breathe again in this space.  Very calming.

Here are my new curtains I got from Pottery Barn.  The are a little long and I still need to hem them up.  I will get to that sooner or later.  Right now, the gather and push method works just fine!

I used a cheap shower curtain rod to hang them.  It worked perfectly!

Here is one of the tweaks.  I took the mirror from the dining room and thought it would work perfect in this space.  I know, I know.  I said in one post that I would never hang a mirror over a tub, because I didn't want to watch myself naked getting into a bath!  However, this mirror only is from the waist up, so when I get in, my eyes stay focused on the faucet!

This picture I found at an antique mall for $8 was originally in my bedroom.  But, I decluttered those walls and thought it would look great in this spot.

I'm going to point it out, if you did not notice, oops, I just brought your eye there!  Sorry for the box of tampons in the pic!  A mirror gets other things in the shot, other than the mirror!

Here is the same black shelf but painted white!  I thought I might distress it and put a glaze over like I did on the mirror.  But, I really like the contrast between the two.  I love my old bottles, candles from Hobby Lobby, plates from Anthropologie and the green candle holder was gift from my sister.  I added the crystal drops from Canton First Trade Days.

White plates ~ Anthropologie
White brown transfer ware ~ flea market
Bamboo shades ~ Lowes (same as my kitchen shades)

I love my wooden cross from Canton Trade Days!  It holds so many necklaces!  I have way too many!

I love necklaces!  Can you tell?

I had overflow and had to add something else for them all.  I found this great green hook from TJ Maxx for $3!  A steal!!

I keep my cleansers out in plain sight, so if I want to go to bed without washing my face, they are staring at me saying,"You must wash, you must wash"  and then I cave and do it!!  You can read my post here about my favorites.  Take care of that face ladies!  It's the only one you'll ever get.

Here's where we keep our perfume and cologne.  Again, if it's out where I can see it, I don't have to dig for it!

I love my new soap pump from the bathroom section at Target.  I got one for my kitchen as well.

This is where I keep my robe behind my door.  The robe is from Ann Taylor Loft a few years ago and I love it!

Hooks ~ Southern Living at Home

Found this great picture at an antique mall that was going out of business.  I got it for super cheap.  I think I paid $20 for it!  Score!

Love the detail on the frame

I got this beautiful rug from Pottery Barn.  I think they don't sell this one anymore.  I tried looking for it but couldn't find it!  You might want to check eBay.

There you have it!  It is complete and I love every calming corner of it!

  2. Erin, everything looks so amazing. Do you know, I love the way the sink skirt puddles at the bottom. I think it gives it such a chic look. Very sort of old world feel. More natural. If it were me I would not hem it, but that is me. You do such a great job on all your rooms. You know, you're not a "wanna" be decorator, you ARE a decorator. xoxo tami

  3. Your bathroom is beautiful !! I absolutely love what you did ... amazing! The flooring is fabulous ... the painted cabs are so crisp (I'm going to study your tutorial), and I love the curtain from PB! The mirror above the garden tub is so classy! And, I love the cross that holds your pretty necklaces. Your hard work paid off, and this is yet another fabulous makeover by you and your family! *Becca*

  7. When I saw the way some of your necklaces were hanging on hooks I thought "Hey I have a black hook thing similar to that. I can do that with it to get it off the floor." Then I scroll down and you have the same one except it has your robe on it.

  9. I love your bathroom transformation! I am thinking that floor tile that looks like wood is the way I need to go in my kitchen and breakfast nook. I need something that is very sturdy and doesn't show every single thing as the dogs go in and out of the house that way. It gets dirty so fast. So I need something that doesn't show dirt fast and is highly cleanable. This seems like the perfect solution.
