Just a sneak peek at the awesome flooring we laid in the master bathroom! I'm so excited about how the flooring turned out! I've always loved the look of wood in a bathroom, but was always scared of it. You know water and wood don't mix real well. Even the fake wood scared me a little. So, when I found the porcelain tiles at Seconds and Surplus in Dallas, I snatched them right up!
They actually look like real wood! They even have the grain and knots right on the tile! This picture doesn't show the grout, but we used a mocha color grout to match the color of the tile, and it just looks perfect! I was a little bit crazy when it came to the grout. The first set of grout we bought was no where near dark enough, so we returned that and bought darker. Then when we mixed that up, and it looked so grey I started to have a panic attack! I'll just say my husband is about done with DIY projects and he was in my ear saying "It's fine, let's just put it down!" So panic attack was in full progress! I mean, we can't lay down grout that I'm not quite sure about the color! Tears, and heart racing lasted for a few minutes. I know, I know, I'm a little crazy, it's just tile! But, yeah, it's TILE! I can't rip that puppy up! So, I calmed myself down, and thought it will darken as it dries, and guess what? It darkened as it dried! Wipe brow, blow out a huge breath and smile! My son, doesn't like to see me cry, at all! So, he was so sweet and helped me carry things and patted my back. My man at one point, said in a "tone", "We've got to make a decision!" and Ethan jumped in and said "Don't you yell at Mom!!!" It was the cutest thing EVER! Of course my man, barely even raised his voice, and NEVER yells at me or the kiddos, so I think Ethan was my protector at the moment! Sweet boy!
So, with that all said, it is now going pretty smooth! This seems to be my life lately. Painting! The walls are done, and now I've moved on to the cabinets, which are nearly done as well!! YEA!!
Here are some more pics of bathrooms that I have fallen in love with. Enjoy!
Looking good. I can't believe how those tiles look like wood. Good choice. I am getting ready to start painting the guest room. I must love wearing paint clothes! Can't wait to see your reveal.
ReplyDeleteI get into the same trouble during projects around here...worry, worry...and then everything turns out great! That tile is beautiful...wish I could change out mine, but it is in great shape and very neutral...what a pain it would be to remove it all. So...new vanity and decor is on it's way. My before (current) bathroom design is too horrible to share. Trust me.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your tile, it is wonderful. I would love some in my familyroom. Carpet is just not the way to go in a high traffic area. Your bathroom is going to look fabulous, I can't wait to see it all done. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!! I have only seen the wood like tiles in one place online, but was in awe. Can't wait to see the room finished. Dallas TX?
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that is not wood..Simply beautiful..Can't wait to see more..
ReplyDeleteoh wow, those are great, I love that color too!! Cant wait to see the finished room!! I want to redo mine. Hmm, I think I may just step out in faith and take a chance ;) XXOO LA

ReplyDeleteI love that floor! I just went through that with my tile. 3 colors later I ma happy... but it is panic attack inducing because once it's down its done! It looks great so far!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your new floor. I can't wait to see it all done. I know how you feel about worrying, we wait to do our projects then we want "perfection." Looking forward to seeing your reveal soon. Can't wait.

Awwww, your Ethan sounds just as sweet as mine!!! Love the tile. I can't wait to see it all finished!!!
ReplyDeleteI am drooling already!
ReplyDeleteWow, those are fantastic! I wish I had known about them when we put down the flooring in our bathroom.
ReplyDeleteThose floors are awesome! I bought wood for my bathroom but never installed it. (Partly because I didn't want the extra work of tearing out the tile that was in there already and partly because...it's wood-in the bathroom.) This is the perfect solution!
ReplyDeletei LOVE these tiles as well.....i saw them when we were building and thought they were the coolest thing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that tile...I"ll be checking into something like that very soon!!!

Can you tell me the brand of tile and what color grout you ended up using? :) I'm hoping to learn from your experience and avoid the panic attack!
