Kitchen Reveal....Finally!!

Isn't it about time I started showing you my new home?  You've waited so patiently.  It's only taken me 8 months to do this!  There are no big excuses.  Except for the same one, time.  Well, lets just get to it, shall we?

The cabinets were very dark with dark granite and a brown travertine back splash.  Nothing wrong with that, right?  Now, we all know I'm a painted cabinet kinda girl.  My father in law nearly dies every time I mention paint over wood.  I can't help myself.

To me, the painted cabinets just open up and brighten up the entire space.  I painted the cabinets around the refrigerator a lovely green.  The color was inspired by Life in Grace blog.  The color is Great Barrington Green.  It really makes it feel like its not part of the other cabinets.  Some people, couldn't believe I was painting it different color, but its just paint.

The detail on the mantel area really comes alive now.

The subway tile came about 6 months after we painted the cabinets.  I found a white beveled subway tile at Lowe's for .32 a tile!  I couldn't believe how cheap that was.  I absolutely adore the herringbone pattern over stove top.  If you live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and need a good tile guy, email me and I'll send his information.  He was awesome!

The coffee station.  Everything right at my fingertips.

Ignore the mail.

I have the lamp set up on a silver round tray.  Just to lift it up a little in case water were to get on it.

Here is my precious bread bin that I am so proud of!  I found it at Canton Trade Days and had to have it!  I've wanted one for years now.
Here is a list of the things in the new kitchen:

Kitchen cabinets ~ White Dove
Refrigerator cabinet ~ Great Barrington Green
Light pendant ~ Lowe's
Flour and sugar canisters ~ Home Goods
White beveled subway tile ~ Lowe's

Our trip to Seaside Florida

I can honestly say our summer has been a full blown crazy summer!!!  Between packing and moving we needed a vacation.  The only problem was, our vacation, that had been planned and booked since February, fell 2 weeks before we had to move.  Talk about stressful!!  Packing for a 7 day trip and packing to move into a new home was not fun.  But, once we got on the road, we were all about it!

My parents and my sister and her family came along with us and we had such an amazing and relaxing time!  We rented a absolutely GORGEOUS house about a 8-10 minute bike ride from the beach.  You will completely drool over this house!!  We were so blessed to get to stay in something so nice.  It was like we stepped in to a photo shoot of Pottery Barn.  We found this lovely place on VRBO.com and if you want more details on it just let me know.  So, enjoy some pics of our lovely vacation home!

{All of these photos were taken by my iPhone.  They may be a little blurry, so sorry!}

Our New Home

So here is a picture of the front of our new home!!  This was taken before we moved in, and we've changed a few minor things.  But, nothing major.  We are so happy to be here!!  The open space is amazing, it took some time to get used to it, let me tell ya.  We came from a much smaller neighborhood where you walk out your garage and BAM there's your neighbor.  We are on a little over an acre, so we don't have that BAM feeling any longer!  My next post will be to show the kitchen and the transformation that a little bit of paint can make!  You know I'm a painted cabinet girl.

The previous owners took such loving care of the house.  They were such a blessing to work with!

That window is actually the 3rd garage.  The garage door is in the back of the house and that's where the previous owners kept their lawnmower and yard equipment.  It backs up to the 4th bedroom and we are going to combine both spaces and make a huge game room for the kiddos.  We are getting bids now for the project and can't wait to get started!!

I adore the stone on this house!  It's one of my favorite things about it.

This fountain feature actually works!!!  It is so pretty to watch when its on.

Now for the part that REALLY sold us!!  The back yard is full of trees!!  Coming from a house where the only thing we looked at was a fence, the top of a neighbors roof, and 6 year old oak trees, this is a huge treat!!!!  We can see it from the kitchen, living room, and our master bedroom.

I don't know what it is about trees that just makes me sigh.  My husband weekly tells me "Good find!  I love it here!"  He normally isn't on board at first for my finds, but when I showed him this house, he instantly fell in love.  Mostly because of that back yard.  Hey, whatever it takes, right?

Hope everyone has a fabulous week!!  Pretty soon, hopefully tomorrow, my sweetheart of a sister will be giving birth to her 2nd baby girl!!  We are so excited!!  Keep Megan in your prays please!

Have a blessed week,
