Christmas Home Tour

Here is a little tour of the living room, dining room, entry way and our bedroom.  Hope you enjoy!

 '

Here is my version of the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  I thought it turned out cute!

I found this plastic Christmas decoration at an antique mall.  It was used in a pharmacy back in the 50's for decoration!

I found this library hutch at an estate sale for $175!  I love everything about it!  It is in such beautiful condition, for now, I am not changing a thing.

I hung my Man's and my childhood stockings in the entryway.

My very first nativity scene!  We got this the first year we were married.

Here is a sneak peek at our bedroom.  There are plenty of changes coming it's way.  I would like to paint some furniture and recover that burgundy bench.

I just love adding touches here and there to the house.  So far, I enjoy every minute of it.  My mother says, that will all change one day, and you won't even want to put the tree up.  I can't imagine!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

I love this song!  "Have yourself a merry little Christmas"  was introuduced for the first time in this wonderful musical!  Did you know that?  Of course you did!

Are you a fan?  I am addicted to this movie!  I taped it on our DVR and my daughter and I watch it ALL the time!  My man will say "REALLY!? Again?"  Yes, again!  I love everything about this movie!  The songs, the wardrobe, the house, the furnishings, the people, and the story line!  I'll take a good ole musical any day!  I was at our local Costco, and came across a DVD and was instantly giddy, I had to have it!  So in my cart it went and found a permanent home in my DVD player!

Look at this house!  Doesn't it give you a warm and fuzzy feeling?  We don't see much snow here in Texas, so we love to see pictures or movies with snow!  If you haven't seen Meet Me in St. Louis, add it to your list of holiday movies to see.  This musical takes all the seasons and blends it seamlessly!  The Halloween scene, I must say, has always creeped me out!  I think if Kailey and Ethan and a few neighborhood kids burned furniture in the streets and threw flour in neighbors faces, they would all be in juvenile hall!  I always found it rather odd.  I mean, where the heck are the parents, and do the police just take that night off so the kids can burn things!  Just sayin.   I still love the scene for all it's creepiness!  I think you will too.  Hope you have a very blessed Sunday!

You'll Fall in Love With...

Wanted to share some of my favorite blogs with you and what makes me love them.

Little Miss Momma has all kinds of good stuff!  She made this fabulous flower necklace and she looks mighty cute wearing it!  I made one today, and love it! I just don't love the major 3rd degree burn I got on my thumb!  I seriously walked around the house aimlessly crying!!  If only a video camera was rolling!  But, please check her out!  You will fall in love with her honesty and cuteness!

Centsational Girl truly earns her name!  She made this Christmas card holder out of a cork board, fabric, ribbon and push pins!  Beautiful!

Humble Pie is the sweetest blog ever!  She has such a clean and natural style.  It is all very lovely.  She also writes beautiful things about our Lord and her family.  Very touching to read!

Funky Junk Interiors is super cool!  Not only can this woman decorate but she gives you really good tips on setting up and maintaining your blog!  She is amazing!

Vignette Design made this beautiful wreath.  She also has the most amazing tablescapes!  I have never seen so many sets of beautiful dishes in all my days!

Mod Vintage Life has out done herself with her whimsical mantle!  I fell in love the moment I saw it!

Holly Mathis Interiors is my hero!  I first saw her in Better Homes and Garden magazine years ago and actually cut the article out and tucked her away in my dream home binder.  I found her blog a year ago and couldn't believe it was her!  I felt like I already knew her!  I know, kinda stalkerish, right?

Here is Centasational Girl again!  This flocked tree is so stunning!  Love her!

All these ladies are the real deal to me!  They really execute their creativity in a way that makes me want to jump up and move something around in the living room, paint an old table or sew that pillow!  I say thank you!

O Christmas Tree

I went around the house last night and took pictures of everything lit up!  I'm like a kid again when it comes to lights!  Every morning when I wake the kiddos up for school, I turn on the lights first.  They just make me happy.  I remember when I was a kid, my brother and I would lay underneath the tree and look up at all the sparkly lights and ornaments!  Ah, memories!

This year, I wanted to do something a little different to the tree.  I bought fabric webbing for .67 a yard at my local Wal Mart!  This is the same ribbon/webbing I used to hang the coffee filter wreath in the kitchen.

I love to add unexpected things in the tree, like this vintage Christmas tin can.  I also have plates and wall plaques.

Love Kailey's Anthropology letter K ornament.

I told you I wasn't done!  I added the red wooden beads under the mantle.  I love it!  I am in love with the command strips and hooks.  I used these.  They are genius!!!

Here's the tree during the day!  Trees, to me, during the day, are not so spectacular.  But still pretty to look at.  Hope everyone has a blessed Friday!

Christmas is in the Air

Oh, I just love getting down the boxes from the attic and getting the house ready for the holidays!   I take pictures every year of the house decorated, because I can never seem to remember how everything went from the year before.  I mean come on, I can't remember if I shaved my legs last night, let alone where a snowman went.  Now yes, I set certain items in the same exact spot year after year.  But, sometimes I like to change it up and put items in different rooms.

The candy cane metal sign was purchased years ago at Target. I have a love affair with Target!  Sometime it is a shameful thing.  I can walk in that store strictly for, let's say, a birthday present, and come out with $150 bill!  I shake my fist in the air and scream "WWhhyy!!!"  Then the whole process starts over again!  Vicious!

Do you like my little book with the Christmas chapel on the front?  The old Presbyterian church was moving and they had a huge sale.  They had tons of old books and for $1 you could take as many as you wanted!  Score!

I love my new jadeite cake stand.  It was a booger to get though!  I bought it off eBay months ago, and when I opened the box is was broken in two pieces right at the base.  I was crushed!  Thank goodness for insurance. So the seller said he would send me another.  Guess what?  Yep, next one arrived broken in the same spot!!  Can you believe it!  So he refunded me my money and said to just keep them both.  So I couldn't let these gorgeous pieces of jadeite go to waste, so I researched.  We used epoxy and you can't even tell where it was broken!!!  I feel kinda guilty, because now I have two!  Hehehehe!!!

Do you remember my brown coffee filter wreath?  I thought white would be so wintry and festive!  I got the JOY ornament from Wal Mart and hot glued the tips down and used the same ribbon.  I love, love, love it!!

Both Santa's came from Marshall's.  I just couldn't pass up fat Santa!

My sweet Aunt LaTrelle made me the gingham apron for Thanksgiving!  I adore it!

Candy canes are so easy and fun to decorate with.

Don't you just love Santa peeking out from around the pillar?  He is sparkly too, so that makes him even better.

Here is the kitchen lit up at night.  Last year I had a real tree in this spot and loved it!  We've always done fake trees, so that was a new experience.  I did not like the clean up and watering.  Just to get it in the stand you have to saw off the end.  What a mess!  To my surprise, I completely forgot I had an extra fake tree in the attic!  You're thinking "how in the heck can you forget that you have another tree!!?'  Remember, I can't remember about my shaved legs!  Anyway, I 'm glad I did remember, because it looks so pretty lit at night in that corner!
Hope you saw something you liked and if you did leave me a comment!  I truly love to hear what you have to say!  Have a blessed Thursday!
