Do you ever go to the grocery store and head straight for the magazine section, and pick up a big ol' fat book of house plans, and dream? You better believe I do! Over the years, my collection of house plans is a little extreme. My favorites are Southern Living and Donald Gardner. I could literally sit for hours and look at house plans. My ultimate dream, is to one day get to actually build a home to MY specifications, and not a "builders" vision. How awesome would it be to plan out your entire kitchen. Like, where you want your cookie sheets to go and where your spices get to live. Maybe one day. But, for now, I can dream and devour house plan books!! Here are a few of my favorites.
***Elberton Way***
(Southern Living)
***Shook Hill***
(Southern Living)
***The Arbordale House***
(Donald Gardner)
Aren't they wonderful? My man and I love the look of older homes, but don't really have the time it takes to keep up with all the maintenance. So, we would love to build a new "old" home. Hope you saw something you like and if you're like me, have fun dreaming!
Blessings,
I love them too Erin!...I studied interior design so I love to draw my plans out. If you dream of your own custom home someday, I suggest you start sketching it out. We came very close to building a few years ago and I was so glad to have my dream plan ready to go. Just borrow your favorite ideas until it's exactly what you love...have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite memories of my mom is her obsession with house plans. she had one cut out of a bh&g plan book and had it pinned to a bulletin board in her office. it had what she called the perfect layout and she always dreamed of having that house in the hill country in texas. thanks for bringing back memories! :) have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey are all three wonderful. I love to look at house plans also. These are great floorplans. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI love them all, and although I am an old house person, hubs loves new ones...I could sit with a house plan book all afternoon and dream away with you.
ReplyDeleteI love house plans too. In fact, when I was a kid, I used to draw my own and imagine that I was an architect. As I got older I realized that too much math was involved so I never went in that direction, but I still love to drool over house plans!
ReplyDeleteThanks for finding my dream home! I love the first one hands down!
ReplyDeleteI still have one from Southern Living in my night drawer from 15 years ago. I love the redo you did on the mirror.. I looked at one at a thrift store today but decided maybe I better study yours some more before I bought one. I nominated you for the Stylish Blogger Award.. If you decide to accept it you can get the instructions from http://southernhomesweethome.blogspot.com/2011/02/award.html
ReplyDeleteThese house plans are really fun! I used to design them when I was a kid and I still like looking at them. Those porches and the vines growing over the entry door! Swoon! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI discovered your web site via Google while looking for a related subject, lucky for me your web site came up, its a great website. I have bookmarked it in my Google bookmarks. You really are a phenomenal person with a brilliant mind!

My husband and I are building Elberton Way this summer. The draftsman has the plans now because we had to enlarge all the rooms and add a half bath by kitchen, and other small additions. Now I'm consumed with the interior design. I don't know where to begin! Do you know any websites or other resourses where I can find some ideas? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I are also planning on building Elberton Way, not sure of our date yet. We had thought some of the rooms needed a little changing. I have studied this plan for some time now and have thought we would change the laundry room to the back hallway by the kitchen (going into the garage). I just don't think I want it by the master bdrm. Would you be interested in sharing some of your ideas. We have even thought we would go see one built wherever that is before starting ours. We also want a basement. Are you planning to do one?
DeleteThanks,
Tonya

ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE these house plans, where can I get them and how much are they?
ReplyDeleteI found it on Southern Living's website: southernlivinghouseplans.com. Its plan SL-1561. We bought the study plan for 9.99 and printed it off on our computer then took it to our Draftsman.
ReplyDeleteThey are all three amazing. I really like to look at home programs also. These are excellent floorplans.
ReplyDeleteThose were truly marvelous House Plans there. Plus I like the details a lot. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteThere are dozens of different house plan styles to select from. The style plan you select will depend largely on your preferences. You might think about scanning your neighborhood to see what the dominant styles are of people living around you.

These home looks like vintage style home. Anyway I like to see it and one thing I have noticed is the landscape design done for these homes. It is quite brilliant and attractive. See home interior designs
