I have found the cutest little Etsy store ever!

J. Carter Handmade is seriously a great Etsy shop! I found her
when I googled "business card holder". Her Etsy store came up and then I fell in love!
Don't you love finding a new little shop out of the blue? I sure do.
Here are just a few of the items that she has to choose from.

I can't seem to decide which fabric I love. She has a huge collection of clutches

to choose from, that it makes deciding pretty hard!

I ordered this business card holder in several different fabrics for the girls

I will be graduating with very soon! I love that it has a magnetic button and

can't wait to see it in person!

Tons of pillow covers to choose from, and the fabrics are too pretty!

Here is another clutch I had to show. I just love the colors and the fun design!

I am loving the look of Chic Shelf Paper!!! Aren't you tired of looking at boring drawers?

Let's face it, they probably look a little nasty like mine. Right? You don't have to have the

same old shelf liners from Wal-Mart that everyone else has as well. This place has so much

to choose from, you might not be able to decide on just one style!

You can line just about anything:

Holiday Historic Home Tour

I love to tour historic homes, especially at Christmas time! My town host a fabulous one and I had to share some of the beautiful homes with you and their decorating talents. I warn you now, there are a lot of pictures.

This house is one of my favorites!

Look at this stove! I'm in heaven!

This kitchen, was really to die for.

I'm loving this tile flooring!

Next home, had such a homey feel, I wanted to sit back and relax. I love this painting over the mantle.

The Cosmetology department had an awesome time dressing up for

Halloween! The girls really went all out. We had some pretty good costumes.

The students on campus, came into our department and voted on us, while we

were doing clients. Yes, we had to work on clients while we were in full costume!

It was a riot! Here are a few shots of the fun we had!

Yep, that's me! I'm the Wicked Witch of the West!! I had so much fun dressing up!

This is my scary faced friend Jordan. She painted her face all by herself!!

Lauralyn, the bumblebee, was busy all morning giving her client a perm. She worked so hard

and did such a good job!

How crazy is it, that in my bathroom, my makeup doesn't even look green? Creepy!

Pretty Little Dollhouse

Didn't you always want a beautiful dollhouse to play with when you were a child? My grandfather made me one when I was 9 years old and I loved that house!! It was ginormous!! It only fit in my grandparents garage, so I didn't get to play with it all the time. I really wish I had pictures of that house. It reminded me of the Gone With the Wind house. Just beautiful!

Kailey had been wanting one for years, but I knew the daunting task of putting this thing together. But, on her 11th birthday Memaw and Grandaddy bought her the kit fro Hobby Lobby and said "Have fun building!"

And, so we did! It took a combined effort of David, Kailey and me over 3 months time. We only worked on it over the weekends. Here are some pics of our pride and joy!

We painted the house a pretty green color called "Witch Hazel" from

Home Depot. Spray painted the shutters and door black and painted all

the trim white. It turned out lovely!

I found this turntable that holds a lot of weight and this helps to turn it around

when she wants to play with it.

This is the baby and little girl room

Kailey did all the decorating herself! She used scrap book paper for wallpaper. Genius!!

The letters are from Hobby Lobby and I thought that was a cute idea to Put "ABC" on

the wall.

She also put scrap book paper on the bed. It was a plain white bed and she jazzed it up

a bit with the pink with black polka dot paper. She loves the name "Reese" so she spelled

it out over the bed.

Here is the Momma and Daddy room. We found most of the furniture from

Melissa & Doug. The family also came from there.

Scrap book paper again for the walls.

Family Room

My Daddy painted that little watercolor over the fireplace for her. Too sweet!

We found the kitchen cabinets at Hobby Lobby. They have a whole section for dollhouses

and accessories. The green color with the bead board is precious!

My very talented Aunt LaTrelle made this cross stitched little rug for her last Christmas.

She will cherish this!

The letters are so cute that spell out "eat"

Now this was a whipping! Kailey and I stained every single little shingle on this roof!!

I would dip each shingle in the stain with tweezers and Kailey would wipe it off with

a towel. This took us a few weekends to do!

We are all very proud of this little house and will keep it for generations to come!

Sometimes Kailey will even find me playing and rearranging furniture!

Kailey's 13th Birthday

I say it every year, but I really can't believe my baby is growing up!

She has turned into a teenager! Now, I really can't believe that one!

She was so excited to turn 13, and I can completely remember that same feeling

when I turned 13. So, I wanted to make it a special one. We had some of

her girlfriends for a "Spa" day at an actual spa! The girls had an absolute blast!

My grown up girl!

The girls got to wear these super cute robes. They loved it!

Each girl got their toes done and had nail art applied.

This lady was a true artist! She worked with acyrlic paints instead

of nail polish.

The girls worked on flip flops with rag ties while they waited on their stations.

We had music going, and the girls would dance and be crazy! It was hilarous!

Here is someone's creation.

Everyone got mini facials. They ended it, with a chocolate mask, which smelled yummy!

They all had to walk around with this chocolate on their faces until it dried.

It was a sight, let me tell you!

We ended up back at our place and we had a photo booth waiting for them.

It was so much fun! We had these mustaches on a stick for them to pose with.

I got them from an Etsy store called Little Retreats. She has the cutest props and

banners. The "Photo Booth" sign is also from there.

Tell the girls to pose and they run with it! We had a pretty good "photo session"!

Kailey found these super cute straws with lips on them and we had to

get those! It's another Etsy store called Hey YoYo. She has wonderful

vintage inspired birthday items. Anything you can think of, she has it.

What a sweet and fun bunch of girls. Kailey is blessed to have them in her life!

I have fallen in love with The Merriweather Council!! She makes the sweetest necklaces you have ever seen! She cross stitches your initial on a necklace that resembles a embroidery hoop.

I thought this little Jack O" Lantern was too cute! Perfect for Halloween!

My mother in law is an expert in cross stitch. Her work is beautiful and I knew she would appreciate one of these necklaces. So, I bought her one in purple with her initial "K" on it!!

Oh laundry rooms, how I love thee, let me count the ways!!

I have a small love affair with laundry/mud rooms. You see, my pitiful excuse of a

laundry/mud room is pretty much non existent. I dream of one day having a place for my

kiddos to hang their back packs and bags. A place for purses and coats. A place, when you

take the clean clothes out of the dryer, you don't get whacked with the door to the garage by

your husband!

Yes, these are all dreams. They might come true. But, for now, I can browse all of these

lovely pictures of wash rooms.

I hope you are all doing well and I hope to be back more now that school is

about to be in full swing with the kiddos!

Blue is the Theme

So, I'm really loving blue right now! Especially these blues. I've had these pics

in my bucket for a long time and had to share them. These rooms are the ultimate!

Does that mean I'm going to change every room in my house to blue? No way!

My man would absolutely have me comitted! However, I might could throw in

some unexpected touches of blue here and there. Like, in the kitchen, I could find

a light blue pitcher. You know, easy things like that.

Great Makeover on a Kitchen!

I had to share the kitchen, which is my favorite for sure!

on the bottom. Perfection!!! The apron sink is just fabulous!

Notice the window over the sink? Oh, to have a window with details

like that, is sigh worthy!

This is an actual candy-maker's cabinet! How cool is that!?

I'm so excited!! I got my bench back from being upholstered, and I LOVE it!!

It's exactly what I wanted. I'd been looking for that burlap look without the

scratchy feel of burlap and I found it! Here is the before pic below.

Now, she has a classic neutral color, that should go with just about anything

I throw at her!

Changing out the mirror really helped the room not feel so heavy anymore.

I added some plates above the picture, just because I love plates.

I would love to add a big rug in front of the bed. We will see!

Momma's 60th Birthday!!

My sweet Momma had her 60th birthday party on Saturday!!! We surprised her, and invited

the extended family! It was so nice to see everyone and celebrate. Mom plays such an important

role in all of our lives. Her love language is acts of service, and she takes care of you like nothing

you've ever experienced! My friends tell me all the time that they want to have another baby, just to have

one of her famous home cooked meals brought to you.She's always there when you need her, and

truly loves to help her kiddos and grandkids out. Thank you for always being here, no matter

what. We love you!!!

Just a Few Changes

So, I didn't paint the furniture, but I did do a few simple changes!

I thought the old mirror was a little dated for my taste. I don't know about you, but I feel as

though my taste are forever changing. I wanted something a little more simple.

I found the mirror at Ikea for around $40. It is a simple oval with beveled edges. I thought if it doesn't look good, I'll just use it some where else. The white plates are

some I had in a cabinet. I kept everything else the same on top of the dresser.

Over the bed, I had one lonely platter which needed some buddies.

So, I found 2 more plates to add to it. I am a plate hangin' fool!!!

You got a plate, I'll find a spot and hang it!!

Love my new Pottery Barn lumbar pillow for $15!!!

We have had this furniture for about 13 years now, and even though the man doesn't want

me too, I still secretly want to paint the dresser and end tables! Maybe I can talk

him into it.

Found these sconces at Hobby Lobby 3 years ago. I wish you could see the color better.

The roses are a pretty moss color.

My man gave me these roses on our 10 year wedding anniversary. I keep everything!

That's my Homecoming Queen tiara. Yes, I'm a dork!

The bench is off to get recovered and I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Here I go thinking again. I think I might want new curtains and a rug!

Benches Galore!

I'm in the process of doing a few small changes to my bedroom. Remember when I said I

would be painting the bedroom furniture? Well, my man has talked me out of it!

I am on a 2 week break from school and he told me he strictly wants me to rest, with no

projects looming over my head AND he really doesn't want me to paint the furniture!

So, I'm being a good wife and honoring his wishes. However, I can update a few easy things.

Right?

#1 on the list is my bench at the foot of our bed. I love, love, love our bench! Everyone needs

one. But, the burgundy color from 1996 has got to go!! So, I'm on the hunt for some

awesome fabric. Here are some really inspiring photos to browse of seating at the

foot of a bed.

This is so romantic and beautiful!

Here is the burgundy bench in all her glory! I'm thinking a nice burlap color, but not burlap!

Let's Talk Hair!!

Remember how I told you I am a lipstick junkie? Well, I'm also a hair product junkie!!!

I can't seem to help myself. I love a good hair product. And boy do I have some good

ones to share with you! I have thick, course, slightly curly and frizzy hair. It can definitely

be unruly at times and hard to tame. Especially when I want it to go straight. So, over

the years I've had to figure which products work the best on me and what doesn't. I know, so does

everyone else. But, what I've learned in Cosmetology school and talking to tons of people

about their hair, is that they start to give up on the hunt of a product that can actually change

the entire look and feel of their hair. I say, don't give up! Don't ever give up!

Here are just a few that I love, that just might help you

I adore the Pureology hair line! EVERYTHING!! My favorite is the

Super Smooth shampoo. All their products are for color treated hair and have

zero sulfate in them. Sulfate is a detergent that is loaded with salt and makes

the shampoo lather like crazy. It also can fade your color quicker! Gasp!!

Did you know that you were washing that salon color right out of your hair?!

Trust me! Use zero sulfate!

The Super Smooth conditioner is a must

About once a month I use Pureology's clarifying shampoo. If you get product build up, problems with

hard water or chemically treat your hair, this shampoo works wonders to strip off all the

nasty stuff and leave your color perfectly in place.

I recently purchased this at a hair show and have fallen in love! This Hydracure is a masque

for your hair. If your hair is thirsty for moisture, this does the trick. Your hair will feel like

silk after this! Love it!

When I blow dry my hair straight, this is the only product I put on my hair. I apply

about a dime size when my hair is wet, then blow dry. After it is dry, I apply another

dime size to dry hair. This product is amazing to tame frizz. I have fought frizz all my

life and this stuff is awesome!

When I wear my hair curly, I love Pureology's Real Curl. It doesn't leave my

hair feeling crunchy and sticky at all. Remember how we wore it in the 80's?

The crunchier the better right? This gives a very natural soft curl that I love.

I've recently discovered the Deva Curl line. It also works wonders on curly frizzy hair. It

actually gave me a fuller curl, not just a wavy one.

This spray helps with frizz as well. I just bought a sample of the shampoo and conditioner, so

I'll let you know what I think.

When I want a lot of volume at the crown, I love Pureology's Root lift. Actually,

any root lift will do. It really does amp your hair up and sometimes you don't even

have to tease your hair, this product works that well.

There you have it! Everything I love and truly use on my hair. By the way, Pureology in no way paid me to say all these nice things

about them. They don't even know my little head exist! I just love to pass on things that

I love and know works wonders. Hope you try some of these things and if you have any

Easter '11

Yes, I'm alive!!! I have not fallen off the face of the earth, nor have I been kidnapped!

You know how it is? Sometimes, you just need a little break from things. I needed one

desperately! I haven't gotten on my computer for 2 whole weeks! Shocking, right?

Well, it did me some good.

So, let's try and play catch up around here!

We had Easter at our house again this year, and we had such a wonderful time with

our family. My cousins and Aunt and Uncle came, and I would love

to see them all the time! They are all so much fun and I love every one of them.

So get ready for some pictures!

Don't you just love this table cloth? My momma let me borrow this one.

My daddy is the official meat cutter in our family! It doesn't feel like Easter

without a ham around here. We buy the butt end and drench it in Dr. Pepper and wrap it

up with foil and put it in the oven for about 2 1/2 hours and voila! Delish ham!

You can't screw that up.

I'm gearing myself up for this one! My master bedroom is about to get a face lift,

starting with this piece. Don't think I'm crazy, but the dresser told me it wanted

a new paint job! I know, I know!! I was a little startled by this, but I have to give

the dresser what it wants. So, a new paint job it is, and a little updating to some other things.

I can't wait to see how it all pulls together!

I have been coveting this painting for a long time and it is finally mine!! The Wheatfield has

completely captured me and won't let go!

I first saw her work over at Whatever and then saw a different print at The Pleated Poppy.

Everything in her Etsy shop has such whimsy and movement to it.

The frame is from Ikea and hardly cost a thing. Mat included!

It truly makes me "filled with joy" everytime I walk in the kitchen and see it.

Doggie Bowls

I love looking at different doggie bowls, leashes, collars, just about anything for

our little Ginger. Sometimes I have to restrain myself from buying things for her. This is Ginger's feeding corner in the kitchen. I found this super cute

stand with bowls for her at Tuesday Morning about 6 years ago. It went perfectly

in our kitchen and she loves it.

However, it is a playground for spiders!! Underneath is a small city of webs and dead bugs. Yuck!!

You can clean it and 1 day later it is full of webs again! The top is also pretty icky. I don't

know what she does, but when she bends over to eat or drink, the whole top of the tray gets

slimy and filthy. It is not a pretty sight.

So, I've been on the lookout for something a little cleaner, and easier to clean for her.

We keep her food in this great bin from Ikea! I loved the one from Ballard's Design,

but at $45, that was a big no! This one only cost around $15. My man, had the

genius idea to put the bin here instead of our cramped little pantry. Genius!

Enter new bowls!!! I found these cuties at Stein Mart. They are going to be so much easier

to take care of and look great with the little band of red at the top. And at $4 each, I couldn't

pass it up.

Now, her little corner is clean and complete!

French Country Cottage has such a beautiful bedroom! I could lay

in this bed forever!! I love the the touches of red, and that

love seat is to die for!!

You'll adore her new line of hair accessories and she has the

best tutorials on makeup application and hair styles.

It is addicting! Beware!

The Lettered Cottage is about to turn this beautiful bedroom

into an office! I can't wait to see the final product!

I went and did it!!! I had my blog customized and I love it!!! The Fairy Blogmother did a fabulous job!

And I must say, she was so very patient with me and my craziness! It was such an easy
